Free
Join us for our FREE event The Sea of Grass: Exploring Oklahoma Literature & Art, with author Walter Echo-Hawk and artist Bunky Echo-Hawk on Thursday, May 16 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
This creative collaboration between father and son duo Walter (Pawnee) and Bunky Echo-Hawk (Pawnee and Yakama) will celebrate the resilience and survival of the human spirit in Native North America.
An articulate and versed indigenous rights activist, attorney and author, Walter Echo-Hawk will share insights from his most recent book, “The Sea of Grass,” a novelized account of the lives and times of real people whose lives were shaped by the land, animals and plants of the Central Plains and by the long sweep of Pawnee history in the grasslands, while contemporary artist Bunky Echo-Hawk will share creative expression through live painting.
A panel discussion that includes scholars and cultural experts will follow the presentation. Program attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase The Sea of Grass and get their copy signed by Walter Echo-Hawk.
